Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Drama courses at various times and locations. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. They will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus for each course, and meet with and advise students as needed.

The Adjunct Faculty member will be expected to evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress. They will also maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, and attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.

The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints. They will also have the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, and demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.

The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Teach Drama courses at a variety of times and locations

Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material

Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner

Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines

Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods

Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress

Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community

Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Requirements

Master's degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama

Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints

Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people

Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning

Working Conditions

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

The work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards.

Hours will vary depending on class time; Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.

Salary and Benefits

$53.82 per contact hour.
