Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Drama courses at various times and locations. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. They will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus for each course, and meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.

The Adjunct Faculty member will evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress. They will also maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, and attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.

The successful candidate will have mastery of course content, demonstrated leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints. They will also have the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, and demonstrate interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.

The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Drama courses at a variety of times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

Requirements:

  • MA or MFA degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama

Working Conditions:

  • The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards

Salary:

$53.82 per contact hour.
