Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at St. David's South Austin Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform moderate and high complexity testing for patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Analyze, review, and report test results and quality control results.
  • Ensure specimen integrity through proper handling and processing.
  • Handle and transport specimens as appropriate to the ordered tests.
  • Ensure positive identification of each patient and respective samples.
  • Correctly receive specimens and print specimen labels.
  • Troubleshoot test systems and take appropriate actions.
  • Communicate the need for supplies, receive all supplies, and rotate supplies appropriately.
  • Perform and document scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution, or completion of a 50-week U.S. military program.
  • Certified in the area of Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Certification Agency for Clinical Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or equivalent.
