Key Responsibilities- Maintain assigned areas in a clean and aseptic manner, adhering to all current Joint Commission/CMS regulations and Ochsner Health's Environmental Services policies and procedures.
- Operate environmental services equipment, including dust mop, wet mop, bucket and wringer, spray bottles, and dustpan, to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Restock cafe and bar areas as needed, and assist with special cleaning projects and room turnover.
- Follow all current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility, and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in operating environmental services equipment preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak/understand verbal communication in English to follow instructions and perform daily tasks.
- Basic knowledge of housekeeping, cleaning, and cleaning equipment/supplies.
- Ability to work flexible schedule when needed, and to listen and take direction with minimal supervision.
The EVS Housekeeping Specialist will work in a patient care area, and will be exposed to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent will also work with and around chemicals, both acidic and alkaline in nature, including but not limited to butyl ingredients.
The physical demands of this job require exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
