Job Summary

The Hoag Addiction Treatment Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addiction Counselor II to join our treatment team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals struggling with addiction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the treatment team in assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning for patients and their families.
  • Assist in the clinical care and case management of patients, ensuring their needs are met and goals are achieved.
  • Coordinate care with outside providers, including referrals and communication with healthcare professionals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the treatment team and management.

Additional Responsibilities at SolMar Retreat

  • Assist with admissions and discharges, ensuring all necessary documents are completed and signed.
  • Conduct screenings and intake assessments as needed, adhering to IMS guidelines.
  • Provide clients with an orientation about the program, rules, and a tour of the unit, including their assigned room.
  • Assist with searching belongings at admission and random room searches in residential level of care.
  • Intervene as an advocate for clients or patients in crisis situations.

Group Counseling and Education

  • Conduct group counseling sessions and manage group sessions as assigned.
  • Lead and facilitate lectures for clients, ensuring all documentation is completed in a timely and clear manner.
  • Participate in case conferences and staff meetings, contributing to the development of treatment plans.

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required; Associate degree in Behavioral Science or Allied Mental Health preferred.
  • Two years minimum experience in addiction/behavioral health required; three years preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CARF and/or JCAHO accreditation standards required.
  • Knowledge of the 12-step, Smart Recovery, and other treatment models required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA required.

Certifications Required

  • CATC II - Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor II
  • or CATC III - Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor III
  • or CATC IV - Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor IV
  • or CADC II - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II
  • or CADC III - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III
  • or LAADC - Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor
  • BLS-AHA Basic Life Support required at hire.
