Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager/Senior Roadway Design Engineer to join our team at Smith Seckman Reid. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing projects of low to medium scope and complexity, ensuring timely delivery of quality products and services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Confirm project scope and requirements with clients and stakeholders
  • Ensure contracts are fully executed by Principals
  • Develop financial plans for projects, including proposal letters and man-hour budgets
  • Lead project kick-off meetings to convey project scope, client expectations, and man-hour budgets
  • Display collaborative learning, encourage constructive criticism, and build consensus with the design team
  • Schedule work, communicate schedule and action-item information to the project team, and monitor manpower requirements
  • Ensure project documentation is completed and stored appropriately
  • Attend meetings with owners, clients, and architects, and facilitate communication between clients and the project team
  • Monitor project budget and work with the project team to schedule work in accordance with man-hour budgets
  • Identify and administer fees for additional services as needed
  • Prepare and implement a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan for projects
  • Ensure invoices are accurate and delivered in a timely manner, and monitor and collect account receivables
  • Manage the Construction Administration process to ensure building systems are installed consistently with the design and predetermined quality standards
  • Supervise the job close-out process to ensure documentation, filings, and project debriefs are complete
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an applicable field from an ABET-accredited college
  • Four years of relevant experience in transportation design and analysis
  • Must be a Registered Professional Engineer
  • 5 years' experience in project management/execution with an understanding of standard project management processes/procedures
  • TDOT experience
  • LPA experience (Local Programs Administration)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with plant operations from the maintenance level through and including the executive level
  • Must have a proven track record of accomplishments as a project manager or engineer on industrial projects and be capable of supervising and directing a team of engineers, contractors, and vendors
  • Working knowledge of Excel, including macros
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task while working on numerous projects simultaneously at various stages of completion
  • Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and MS Project
