Redmond, Washington, United States SpaceX Full time

In this exciting role as a Power Components Mechanical Engineer at SpaceX, you'll have the opportunity to work on the design and development of critical systems that enable fast, reliable internet connectivity through our Starlink satellite constellation. With over 4 million users worldwide, Starlink is transforming the way people connect and access information.

About the Company

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity explores the stars is more exciting than one where we stay on Earth. Today, we're actively developing technologies to make this possible. Our goal is to enable human life on Mars and beyond. We're committed to innovation and pushing the boundaries of what's thought possible.

About the Role

As a Power Components Mechanical Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, analysis, fabrication, qualification, and flight operation of solar arrays, solar array deploy mechanisms, batteries, and other electromechanical components. Your expertise will help drive conceptual design, define design criteria, and perform trades. You'll also be responsible for holding design reviews internally, participating in reviews with suppliers and customers, and driving technology improvements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll need experience with CAD and FEA software packages, as well as proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA) tools, and hand calculations. A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, math, or a related field is required. Preferred skills include demonstrated expertise in design, CAD, FEA, GD&T, defining test plans, designing test setups, and executing hardware environmental qualification tests. Power components domain knowledge is also highly valued.

Benefits and Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 per year. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for long-term incentives, such as company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various discounts and perks are also offered.
