Role Overview

The Nursing Supervisor will oversee and guide nursing and support personnel during their designated shifts. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal staffing levels and assignments, taking into account staff availability, competencies, patient census, acuity, and workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as necessary.
  • Assist staff with problem-solving by floating between teams.
  • May assume patient assignments to address staffing requirements.
  • Assess the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues impacting patient outcomes.
  • Address complaints regarding patient care and related services through established protocols.
  • Perform specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, managing admissions or discharges, and coordinating patient transfers.
  • Ensure that staff have the necessary equipment and supplies to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practices into operational and clinical protocols.
  • Foster an environment that promotes professional development.

Qualifications

Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.

Skills: This position demands critical thinking abilities, decisive judgment, and the capacity to work independently in a high-pressure environment.

Certifications: New hires must possess current BLS and ACLS certifications upon hiring. Staff are expected to obtain PALS/ENPC within six months of employment. Additionally, new hires have ninety days from their start date to secure American Heart Association certifications, while remaining current in all required certifications as outlined in the job description.

Licenses: A valid NM RN license or appropriate RN Compact licensure is required to commence employment.
