The Medical Science Liaison (MSL)/Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL) is responsible for fostering relationships with healthcare professionals through high-level scientific discussions regarding the research and clinical applications of our product portfolio. This role provides essential support to clinical development teams and investigators involved in clinical trials, while also offering scientific insights to internal teams. MSLs/Sr. MSLs are expected to engage with both internal (R&D, Sales, and Marketing) and external stakeholders, showcasing leadership skills and adhering to compliance protocols. The MSL/Sr. MSL serves as a credible representative of Idorsia Pharmaceuticals during various interactions with key opinion leaders (KOLs) across their designated region.

Territory encompasses the western United States, primarily including California, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. While candidates residing in California are preferred, other western states will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture relationships with healthcare professionals, providing them with credible, balanced scientific information about Idorsia and its offerings, while understanding their perspectives and challenges in patient care.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to create and implement comprehensive territory plans that align with product lifecycle and therapeutic area strategies.
  • Demonstrate expertise in therapeutic areas and products through continuous literature review, participation in scientific conferences, and internal training.
  • Share knowledge on KOL and site profiling, facilitating education both internally and externally.
  • Support the medical affairs team in identifying potential investigators and research initiatives, including assistance with investigator-sponsored trials and site recruitment strategies.
  • Document observations, insights, and feedback from interactions with healthcare professionals and scientific activities within the territory.
  • Address unsolicited scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals by integrating scientific data and utilizing approved resources.
  • Develop strong collaborative partnerships with field coalitions.
  • For Sr. MSLs: Mentor new MSLs during their onboarding process, ensuring they effectively fulfill their responsibilities within the initial 30, 60, and 90 days.
  • For Sr. MSLs: Partner with new MSLs to enhance their understanding of the MSL role at Idorsia and the necessary technical knowledge for effective engagement with healthcare professionals.
  • For Sr. MSLs: Assist in the development and delivery of internal training and communication within the US Medical Affairs team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • MSL: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison engaging KOLs, preferably in Neurology, CNS, or sleep medicine. Clinical experience in the sleep domain will also be considered.
  • Sr. MSL: Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison engaging KOLs specifically in Neurology, CNS, or sleep medicine.
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license (driving record verification will be conducted during onboarding).

Physical Requirements:

  • This role requires driving as part of standard job duties to engage with external stakeholders. Expect extensive travel, averaging 50-70%, with variations based on business needs.
  • Flexibility in working hours is necessary to accommodate travel and job-related activities, which may vary.
  • Occasional physical activities include reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling.
  • Frequent activities involve repetitive motions (typing), talking, and hearing. Light work is typically required, including occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds and close visual acuity for detailed document reading.
  • This position necessitates extensive face-to-face interactions with customers, thus requiring current COVID-19 vaccination status.
