Job Title: Environmental Technician/Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Technician or Scientist to join our team in Denver, Colorado. As an Environmental Technician or Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting current and upcoming projects for our Denver office and the western region of Atlas.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conduct due diligence site inspections, groundwater, air, and soil sampling, and system sampling and routine sampling and maintenance of soil vapor extraction, and groundwater extraction treatment systems.
  • Complete routine tasks associated with environmental inspections and assessments, subsurface investigations, or environmental remediation projects (soil/groundwater sampling and subsurface drilling, etc.).
  • Assist in preparing a variety of regulatory-driven soil, groundwater, and remediation system reports.
  • Manage assigned project tasks on time, within scope and budget with specific attention to safety.
  • Possess a basic understanding of United States Environmental Protection Agency and State of Colorado environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to meet organization and project objectives.
  • Implement and diligently adhere to corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare daily field reports documenting field activities and system performance specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance of field equipment utilized by the Denver office.
  • Assist with cost estimating and procurement of equipment and parts.
  • Regularly conduct daily field work (including travel within Atlas' western region) as needed.
  • Qualified to conduct soil, air, groundwater, and remediation system sampling or willingness to be trained to complete these tasks.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental sciences, geology, hydrogeology, or related field.
  • At least one year of experience working on environmental projects involving soil and groundwater contaminant assessment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a similar role with an environmental or engineering consulting firm in Colorado.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with soil/groundwater sampling experience for the CDLE Division of Oil and Public Safety (OPS) Program.
  • The ideal candidate will have completed the 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Good problem solving and scientific evaluation skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Technical Requirements:
  • Candidate should be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficiency in CADD or GIS is also considered a plus.
Other Miscellaneous Qualities:
  • Ability to travel, primarily within Colorado but also within Atlas' Western Region.
  • Experience using field equipment.
  • Dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful.
  • Positive, flexible team-oriented approach, with the willingness and desire to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
Compensation:

$25 - $32 hourly.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state's law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
