Job Title: Physical Scientist

Join the Bureau of Reclamation as a Physical Scientist and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for water management and environmental protection.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Scientist to join our team. As a Physical Scientist, you will be responsible for using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to develop and manage tabular and geospatial data, generate web applications and visualizations, and provide expert-level technical support for enterprise geospatial IT systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage geospatial data, including terrestrial and bathymetric elevation data, and attribute infrastructure assets such as dams, powerplants, canals, and groundwater wells.
  • Manage projects and coordinate teams to complete project tasks, including preparing technical reports, providing presentations, and communicating ideas effectively.
  • Maintain and document geospatial data, and generate web-based applications, visualizations, and dashboards using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Provide technical support for an enterprise geospatial IT system, including managing, maintaining, and providing technical support for the system.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
  • Must submit a resume and supporting documentation.
  • Must meet any minimum education and/or experience requirements.
Qualifications

To be eligible for consideration, you must meet the Basic Education Requirement for this position, having a degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science. You must also possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service, including experience as a subject matter expert in GIS, managing geospatial data, and providing technical support for enterprise geospatial IT systems.
