Position Overview:
The Client Intake and Support Coordinator at Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington (CCDA), Migration and Refugee Services (MRS), plays a crucial role in the collection, evaluation, and analysis of eligibility documentation for new client enrollments.
This position is primarily focused on the intake process and the assessment of the resettlement, employment, training, legal, and health requirements of newly arrived Afghan parolees. Additionally, the coordinator will support program staff by facilitating documentation and communication processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist resettlement staff in the collection, evaluation, and analysis of eligibility documentation.
Schedule appointments for potential clients seeking intake services.
Support resettlement staff in conducting initial client assessments.
Create new case files (physical files) for all intakes and input enrollment data into MRS databases.
Ensure data accuracy by performing routine file reviews in both physical and digital formats.
Manage data across multiple databases while ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements.
Collaborate closely with Refugee Cash Assistance and Refugee Employment services staff.
Handle incoming service requests by answering, screening, and forwarding as necessary. Provide referrals and basic information to clients and walk-ins not eligible for services.
Maintain office security by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
Perform clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning.
Make referrals to in-house programs and external social service providers.
Provide translation and interpretation services as needed to assist clients.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
Documentation and Reporting:
Ensure accurate submission of statistics and required data.
Prepare arrival and intake data for periodic reporting.
Utilize data management systems to regularly collect data and complete case notes (including Refugee Solution, VNIS, and MRIS reporting).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required.
Minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience in a culturally diverse environment, preferably in refugee resettlement.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English.
Bilingual proficiency in English and one additional language spoken by clients is required: Dari or Pashtu.
Demonstrated sensitivity to the cultural backgrounds of the service population and the ability to communicate in a culturally competent manner.
Proactive in fostering cooperative and positive relationships with clients and U.S. ties.
Able to assist clients in resolving complex issues under pressure.
Committed to promoting self-sufficiency among all clients while reflecting the mission and goals of Catholic Charities with minimal supervision.
Attend regular supervision meetings, case consultations, and assist in developing crisis mitigation strategies.
Stay informed about social services policies and practices in all counties and localities where clients are resettling.
Flexible to work during irregular hours.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Office products.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform light lifting up to 25 lbs.
