Irvine, California, United States Amazon Full time
Join Us in Shaping the Future of Entertainment

Are you passionate about transforming the landscape of movies and television? Do you aspire to influence how Amazon customers engage with content?

Prime Video is a premier streaming platform that provides users with an extensive array of films and series, making it effortless for them to discover their favorite shows and movies in one convenient location.

We present our members with thousands of popular films and series, including Originals, Exclusive content, and thrilling live sports events.

Additionally, we offer the flexibility for our members to subscribe to add-on channels, which can be canceled at any time, as well as the option to rent or purchase new release films and TV series on the Prime Video Store.

Prime Video operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, accessible in over 240 countries and territories globally.

Our team thrives in a collaborative atmosphere where innovation on behalf of our customers is central to our mission.

If this resonates with you, we encourage you to explore further.

Key Responsibilities

You will be part of the team that develops the technology facilitating customer rentals and purchases of TV content and films, as well as subscriptions to services like Channels, utilizing third-party marketplace payment methods to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in Amazon's systems.

Propel Prime Video's expansion by creating highly automated, scalable financial systems.

As an engineer, you will engage in all phases of the process—from conceptualization, business analysis, and technical design to development and deployment across various technologies—providing you with a genuine sense of ownership.

Together, we create systems that uphold high standards of performance and reliability while operating at an immense scale.

A Day in the Life

We manage purchase and subscription lifecycle events in near-real time, mapping them to financial entries that are subsequently recorded in the ledger.

The software logic for ingestion and translation varies based on factors such as marketplace provider, product type, locale, and taxes—introducing complexity due to our global reach.

We play a pivotal role in most Prime Video launches in new countries and when introducing new products and features on third-party payment methods in existing markets—ensuring that financial activities are accurately documented as customers engage with our offerings.

We also oversee and are rapidly enhancing a service that conducts payment reconciliation and variance detection.

In addition to new expansion initiatives, the team is investing in technology to streamline and migrate existing products and marketplaces to our current methodologies—enabling us to simplify operations and enhance efficiency.

About the Team

Our team fosters open dialogue regarding design concepts, collaborative problem-solving within and across teams, and a strong sense of ownership.

We encourage all members to participate in discussions and strive for an innovative and inclusive culture. The team is responsible for end-to-end delivery, including customer support.

This role will expose you to various business domains (product/finance/accounting) and other internal services, providing comprehensive insights into the diverse departments involved in customer transactions related to our products.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship)
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) for new and existing systems (non-internship)
