Job Summary

Dignity Health Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing administrative and clinical support to ensure the smooth operation of our medical offices, clinics, and hospitals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing basic patient care and treatment
  • Assisting with obtaining vital signs, documenting chief complaint, and providing assistance to physicians, residents, and/or licensed nursing personnel
  • Alerting physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities
  • Performing casting, splinting, traction application, and various soft good applications as an Orthopedic Technician
  • Working with providers, residents, nurse practitioners, and nurses to coordinate ongoing orthopedic needs
  • Assisting providers with wound care
  • Maintaining hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collecting laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol
  • Assisting the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments, and procedures as requested
  • Retrieving necessary equipment and supplies
  • Performing follow-up actions as directed
  • Documenting clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols
  • Conducting front desk duties as needed (check in, registrations, scheduling appointments)

Requirements

Minimum:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification - Nat'l

As related to Medical Assistant, demonstrated experience with computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients

As related to Orthopedic Tech, six months related experience required. Demonstrated experience with computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients required

Preferred:

Previous MA experience highly preferred

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience

Previous experience in designated specialty

Bilingual skills
