About the Role

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Boiler Turbine Plant Operator to join our team in a complex, critical environment. As a key member of our pharmaceutical powerhouse team in Groton, CT, you will be responsible for ensuring 24/7 coverage and working 12-hour rotating shifts on the Dupont Schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate industrial steam boilers and associated site distribution systems.
  • Line up and operate utilities distribution systems.
  • Distribute generated nitrogen and manage bulk delivery storage.
  • Manage return condensate/steam trap systems and ancillary equipment.
  • Perform equipment rounds, collect data, and make minor equipment repairs.
  • Act as the first response to alarm conditions and escalate as necessary.
  • Take corrective action for abnormal events or system failures.
  • Keep logs and record retention for systems, including regulatory requirements, to maintain system performance within permitted levels (air, water, and effluent discharge).
  • Pursue a continuous improvement process and training as required for further growth as a powerplant Operator.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A CT state OE2 license or the ability to obtain within one year.
  • 5 years of technical experience in a skilled trade, including operating and maintaining chilled water systems in a large commercial or industrial environment, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 1 year of experience in the operation of building management systems and chilled water generation and distribution.
  • The ability to obtain a security access badge at our client's location.
  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays, various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • No sponsorship for United States work authorization.
Physical Requirements

This role requires:

  • The ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to stand for prolonged periods and walk extensively throughout the facility during shift.
  • The flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, twist, crawl, and climb repetitive during shift.
  • The ability to regularly kneel, work in cramped or confined spaces, or assume uncomfortable or tiring body positions repetitive for shift.
  • The ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • The ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • The ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, stairs, or scaffolding at least 10 times during shift.
  • The ability to work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions, as needed.
  • The use of a Company/Client-approved utility knife.
  • The ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
  • The ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
  • The ability to wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • The ability to cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
