Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Direct and manage kiln operation in the areas of safety, production, maintenance, profitability, and quality.
  • Performance Improvement: Strive to continuously improve all areas of yard performance, identifying opportunities for growth and implementing effective solutions.
Key Accountabilities
  • Plant Performance: Establish and monitor overall plant performance for safety, production, profitability, and quality standards, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Location Management: Oversee location activities to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safe operation of kiln operations, maintaining awareness of OSHA regulations and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Capital Asset Maintenance: Manage capital asset maintenance for the operation, minimizing downtime and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Labor Management: Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses, while providing leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Workforce Development: Provide direction, development, and leadership to location workforce, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements
  • Education: 4-year degree, preferably in Forest or Wood Products.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of hardwood lumber inventory or manufacturing experience.
  • Skills: Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook, with SAP experience a plus.
  • Leadership: Organize multiple work assignments and establish priorities, working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders.
