Position Overview

SUMMARY: The Senior Commercial Banker is accountable for the overall success and revenue enhancement of their designated portfolio and sales territory, emphasizing new client acquisition. This role is primarily focused on outside sales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing and expanding a portfolio of business (credit and deposit) relationships to meet individual performance targets.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with business owners and key decision-makers by understanding their operations, growth drivers, and challenges.
  • Retaining and driving revenue growth from the existing portfolio by providing ongoing financial guidance and maintaining profitable relationships through appropriate credit, deposit, and treasury solutions.
  • Exhibiting expertise in initiating the client credit application process through impactful prospecting calls and thorough financial data collection from potential clients.
  • Possessing in-depth knowledge of BankUnited's credit policies and the range of credit and non-credit products available to clients.
  • Meeting client engagement and prospecting objectives.
  • Utilizing the bank's contact management system to maintain records of prospective clients and utilize standard templates (e.g., term sheet templates).
  • Participating actively in scheduled division meetings and ongoing training sessions.
  • Collaborating with internal partners to ensure comprehensive cross-selling of client relationships.
  • Complying with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines, including those related to anti-money laundering (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act).
  • Adhering to Bank policies and completing required training.
  • Identifying and reporting any suspicious activities.
EDUCATION

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required.

EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant banking sales experience and credit training is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
  • Strong experience in outside sales and cold calling is essential.
  • Must reside within the market of the available position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • A Notary License is preferred.
