Job Summary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Credential - Valid California credential for elementary instruction
B. Education - Adequate to fulfill credential prerequisites
C. Experience - Student teaching experience at the relevant educational level
D. Personal - Capability to meet District standards for physical and mental health, professional demeanor, and leadership skills

Understanding of and capacity to apply educational content, philosophical, social, and pedagogical concepts pertinent to the responsibilities outlined in this job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. As a Learning Director

  • Instructional Planning (individualized)
a. Deliver lessons in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to students in a classroom setting, utilizing the curriculum and/or skill sequence endorsed by the Board of Education, along with other suitable learning activities aligned with the District's and individual school's objectives
b.

Guide students in citizenship, foundational communication skills, and the attitudes necessary for responsible engagement in both school and community.

Instruct in additional general components of the curriculum as mandated by state law and the administrative regulations of the school district
c. Develop lesson plans and instructional resources, providing tailored and small group instruction to accommodate the unique needs of each student
d. Foster an effective environment conducive to child-centered learning

  • Assessment of Teaching Outcomes
a. Assess students' academic and social development based on established expectations; maintain appropriate records and prepare progress reports
b. Engage with parents through various communication methods to discuss student progress

  • Execution of Instructional Techniques
a. Provide enriching learning experiences
b. Establish and uphold standards of student behavior necessary for a productive learning environment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. The educator serves as the learning director in one extended session and co-teacher in another
1. Instructional Planning
a. Facilitates learning experiences for kindergarten students in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, mathematics, science, art, music, physical education, and health education - aligned with District and school objectives
b. Instructs kindergarten students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the curriculum as specified by state law and administrative regulations of the school
c. Collaborates with the team teacher to design the instructional program for kindergarten students
d. Organizes and supervises the work of aides or other support staff in the kindergarten classroom
e. Plans and oversees student teachers assigned to the kindergarten program
2. Assessment of Teaching Outcomes
a. Evaluates the academic and social development of kindergarten students in accordance with District program requirements
b. Collaborates with the team teacher to assess the instructional program for kindergarten students
c. Evaluates student teachers assigned to the kindergarten program
3. Instructional Techniques
a. Develops and utilizes multimedia instructional materials suitable for the diverse learning needs of kindergarten students with varying mental, physical, and emotional maturity
b. Provides individualized and group instruction tailored to meet the specific needs of students and facilitate a smooth transition to school
c. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to ensure effective participation in all kindergarten activities
d. Selects and orders books, instructional aids, and supplies
e. Demonstrates willingness to incorporate new materials and methodologies
f. Participates in the evaluation of materials, equipment, and textbooks for appropriateness for kindergarten
g. Creates an engaging learning environment through well-organized displays of student work, bulletin boards, and interest centers
4. Additional Responsibilities
a. Ensures a comfortable, orderly, and visually appealing classroom environment through effective management of heat, light, and room arrangement
b. Responsible for basic attendance and record-keeping as required

a. Cultivates a responsive learning atmosphere through positive teacher-student rapport, helping students develop a positive self-image

a. Collaborates effectively in sharing responsibilities and students during team teaching sessions

c. Works cooperatively with colleagues to assess and address students' health, attitude, and learning challenges
3. Teacher-Parent
a. Communicates with parents through various channels
b. Conducts parent conferences to discuss individual student progress and explain the school program
4. Teacher-Community
a. Represents a positive image of the teaching profession to the community
b. Promotes District philosophy as opportunities arise

C. Professional Attitude, Responsibility, and Participation
1. Professional Development
a. Engages regularly in professional development opportunities at both the school and District levels to enhance professional skills
b. Shows interest in and participates in professional organizations
c. Involves in curriculum and other developmental initiatives related to kindergarten students within the school and/or District

a. Demonstrates willingness to accept changes in assignments related to socioeconomic factors, programs, and materials
b. Adapts to various personalities in team teaching scenarios
