Position Overview:
As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Cardiovascular Specialist assists credentialed providers in executing diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures within the cardiac and vascular laboratory settings. This role emphasizes collaboration and aligns with the mission and values of Kaiser Permanente, ensuring a high standard of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a scrub assistant or monitor/recorder during cardiology and radiology examinations.
2. Prepare and position patients for invasive interventions.
3. Support cardiovascular assessments and document patients' hemodynamic data utilizing specialized electronic testing apparatus, recording devices, and laboratory tools.
4. Manage patient access sites post-procedure, including sheath removal and safe handling of hemostatic devices.
5. Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot Intra Aortic Balloon Pumps as necessary.
6. Identify cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms, promptly notifying credentialed providers and team members as per established protocols.
7. Administer intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under the direct supervision of a physician.
8. Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques for testing.
9. Prepare, sustain, and operate hemodynamic and monitoring equipment.
10. Initiate and maintain IV access, following appropriate training and certification.
11. Perform basic and advanced life support as required, including defibrillation.

Qualifications:
Experience:
Completion of an accredited invasive cardiovascular technologist training program or two years of education in an allied health field such as nursing, respiratory therapy, radiographic technology, or emergency medicine technology, along with comparable work experience, including at least two years of recent training in an Interventional Cath Lab environment.

Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography within 12 months of hire.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography within 12 months of hire.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes.
- Ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Analytical skills necessary for monitoring and assessing patient conditions and performing hemodynamic calculations for heart disease diagnosis.
- Must thrive in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of recent experience in an interventional cath lab.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certifications.

Notes:
Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
