We are seeking a dedicated professional to support our credentialed providers in executing diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures within the cardiac and vascular laboratory settings. This role emphasizes collaboration and aligns with the mission and values of Kaiser Permanente. The position operates under the direct oversight of a credentialed provider.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a scrub assistant or monitor/recorder during cardiology and radiology examinations. Prepare and position patients for invasive interventions. Assist in cardiovascular assessments and document patients' hemodynamic data utilizing specialized electronic testing equipment, recording devices, and laboratory tools. Manage patient access sites post-procedure, including sheath removal and the safe handling of hemostatic devices. Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot Intra Aortic Balloon Pumps as necessary. Identify cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms, alerting the credentialed provider and team members during procedures as per established protocols. Administer intra-coronary and/or intra-arterial medications under the direct supervision of a physician. Ensure the sterile field is prepared and maintained using aseptic techniques for testing. Operate and maintain hemodynamic and monitoring devices. Initiate and sustain IV access with appropriate training and certification. Familiarity with IVUS and Site Rite ultrasound machines is essential. Provide basic and advanced life support when necessary, including defibrillation.
- Maintain proficiency in conducting point-of-care tests on laboratory equipment such as activated clotting time (ACT), oxygen saturation levels, and arterial blood gases (ABG). Educate patients regarding procedures. Be available for on-call duties, responding on-site within 30 minutes when required. Restock supplies and uphold a clean work environment; manage file room tasks. Actively engage in quality assurance activities; troubleshoot equipment issues and initiate vendor service requests. Assist in the transportation of patients.
Experience
- Completion of an accredited invasive cardiovascular technologist training program or two (2) years of education in an allied health field such as nursing, respiratory therapy, radiographic technology, or emergency medicine technology, coupled with comparable work experience, including at least two (2) years of recent hands-on training in an Interventional Cath Lab setting.

- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography within 12 months of hire OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certificate within 12 months of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to comply with a thirty (30) minute callback to the facility when on call for emergencies.
- Capability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Analytical skills necessary for monitoring and assessing patient conditions and performing hemodynamic calculations for heart disease diagnosis.
- Must be able to work effectively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Five (5) years of recent experience in an interventional cath lab.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) for Cardiovascular Labs, or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) for Electrophysiology.
