Position Overview

The Audio Visual Field Engineer plays a crucial role in the configuration, deployment, and commissioning of AV systems. This position demands a high level of troubleshooting expertise and a comprehensive understanding of audio-visual system functionality and design. Effective communication and a professional demeanor are essential for success in this role.

This position may involve travel of up to 30% outside the state.

Key Responsibilities

Design Collaboration

  • Engage with the design team to ensure system integrity and functionality.
  • Participate in design and scope review meetings to provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with project colleagues on quality assurance documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of network documentation.
  • Generate and review Requests for Information (RFIs).

Quality Assurance

  • Organize and set up comprehensive system mock-ups.
  • Conduct thorough testing of system functionality.
  • Document any discrepancies and maintain quality assurance records.

Field Commissioning

  • Inspect installation quality on-site.
  • Facilitate system operation checks and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Work alongside project foremen to resolve installation challenges during commissioning.
  • Coordinate with AV programmers for necessary updates or revisions.
  • Maintain communication with project managers regarding unresolved issues and client requirements.

System Walkthrough and Acceptance

  • Complete all necessary commissioning documentation.
  • Guide end users and/or consultants through system walkthroughs.
  • Document and address any outstanding punch list items.

Training and Project Closeout

  • Deliver on-site training for end users on all systems.
  • Provide technical training for the end user’s technical team.
  • Review all closeout documentation, including as-built drawings and user manuals.
  • Assist the project management team in securing project signoff.

Team Dynamics and Leadership

  • Foster a collaborative and teamwork-oriented environment.
  • Exhibit accountability and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and a commitment to professional growth.

Additional Duties

Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Technical School Certification or Community College education preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in AV installation, commissioning, and service.

Supplemental Requirements

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Crestron, AMX, Extron, Biamp, and QSC systems.
  • Experience with AV industry software and platforms.
  • Proficient in network troubleshooting and deployment.
  • Organized and proactive work style.
  • Ability to interpret and understand design schematics.
  • Experience in audio tuning, equalization, and DSP programming.
  • Knowledge of Unified Communications (UC) systems.
  • AVIXA CTS/CTS-I certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and performing work at heights using ladders ranging from 6 to 12 feet.
