Position Overview

The Audio Visual Field Engineer plays a crucial role in the successful setup, deployment, and commissioning of audio-visual systems. This position demands exceptional troubleshooting abilities and a comprehensive understanding of AV system design and operation. Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor are essential for achieving success in this role.

This position may involve up to 30% travel outside the home state.

Key Responsibilities

Design Collaboration

  • Engage with the design team to ensure system functionality aligns with specifications.
  • Participate in design and scope review meetings to provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with project team members on quality assurance documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of network documentation.
  • Generate and review Requests for Information (RFIs).

Quality Assurance in-house

  • Organize and establish a comprehensive system mock-up.
  • Evaluate full system functionality through rigorous testing.
  • Document findings and maintain quality assurance records.

Field Commissioning

  • Conduct site inspections to assess installation quality.
  • Oversee system operations and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Collaborate with project foreman to resolve installation challenges during commissioning.
  • Work with AV programmers to implement necessary updates or revisions.
  • Maintain communication with project managers regarding outstanding issues and client requirements.

System Walkthrough and Acceptance

  • Complete necessary commissioning checklist documentation.
  • Guide end users and/or consultants through system walkthroughs.
  • Document and address any punch list items.

Training and Project Closeout

  • Deliver on-site training for end users on all systems.
  • Provide technical training for the end user’s technical team.
  • Review all closeout documentation, including as-built drawings and user manuals.
  • Support the project management team in securing project signoff.

Team Dynamics and Leadership

  • Foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrate accountability and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Technical School Certification or Community College preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in AV installation, commissioning, and service.

Supplemental Requirements

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Crestron, AMX, Extron, Biamp, and QSC technologies.
  • Familiarity with AV industry software and platforms.
  • Experience in network troubleshooting and deployment.
  • Organized and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to interpret and understand design drawings.
  • Experience in audio tuning, equalization, and DSP programming.
  • Knowledge of Unified Communications (UC) systems.
  • AVIXA CTS/CTS-I certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements
