About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to join our team in the South Texas Gulf Coast area. As a key member of our Owner's Representative Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and construction of a major water treatment facility. This is a unique opportunity to work on a multi-million dollar project that will play a critical role in our client's future water supply portfolio.

Your Impact
  • Lead public agencies and private sector clients through the delivery of capital projects for water and wastewater treatment and conveyance.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver design and construction projects, providing technical advice to senior client staff and internal project teams.
  • Advise project teams on ongoing project implementation issues, including change management and contract document interpretation.
  • Provide oversight of technical work, including pilot testing, design development, project scheduling, and data collection and analysis.
  • Work closely with our Texas Water/Wastewater Business Line Leader to identify and position for water/wastewater/stormwater facilities projects across the State of Texas.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff in developing their skills in planning, design, and construction management of water and wastewater projects.
  • Manage projects as assigned, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
Who You Are
  • Demonstrated successful leadership in conceptualizing and executing large-scale multidisciplinary water/wastewater facilities design projects.
  • History of developing strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in a water or wastewater related course of study or closely related discipline.
  • 15+ years of relevant post-education experience in multidisciplinary water/wastewater facilities planning, engineering, and construction.
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills leading teams of other engineers and subconsultants in multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Effective external leadership skills, including interacting with clients, contractors, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to express intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Highly proficient with water/wastewater engineering principles, practices, and methods, and their application to environmental and project work-related issues.
  • Professional Engineer in Texas required, or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within six months of hire date.
  • Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies.
  • Ability to work independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior-level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, and communication software, technology, math principles, predictive models, and tools.
  • Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
