Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend in-services or complete make-up assignments to ensure ongoing education and skill development.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission, Department of Health Services, California Children's Health Program, and Medi-Cal Managed Care.
  • Perform waived testing and phlebotomy procedures with precision and accuracy.
  • Consistently adhere to FHCSD policies and procedures to guarantee positive patient outcomes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment, adhering to 5S principles and continuous quality improvement methods.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, and assist providers as needed to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Support provider productivity by managing clinic flow, scheduling patient follow-up appointments, communicating referral information, and discharge instructions.
  • Respond to voicemails, route messages, and return phone calls in a timely manner to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Record patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Administer medications, including injections, and clean, process, and sterilize medical instruments as needed.
  • Collect and handle laboratory specimens appropriately, adhering to established protocols.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Travel to locations as necessary, integrating into workflow and supporting clinic productivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team.

Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant diploma from an approved course is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training is required.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Age 21; Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle-related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless, or felony driving within 7 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an ambulatory care setting or similar setting is highly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal interactions with clients and co-workers as a member of a multi-disciplinary community health team with a diverse multi-cultural population.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
  • Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation, obtaining background information and reports on patients, following up on appointments, etc.).
  • Basic organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management skills, and strong motivation to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
