At General Galactic, we are dedicated to transforming the global energy supply chain by making sustainable fuel both affordable and accessible to customers worldwide. As a pre-seed stage startup, we are developing Genesis, an innovative modular hardware platform designed to capture carbon dioxide and convert it into 100% renewable, synthetic hydrocarbon fuel. This fuel is fully compatible with existing energy and natural gas infrastructures, paving the way for a new era of clean energy independence on Earth and facilitating future space missions to Mars and beyond.

Position Overview

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the co-founders and our technical team to create essential hardware for our systems. You will have significant ownership of your projects, work at a fast pace, and operate with a high degree of autonomy. As the company expands, there will be opportunities for you to grow your role within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will be customized based on your expertise and may include:

  • Designing, constructing, testing, and operating innovative hardware and fuel generation systems
  • Creating experimental designs to assess system and reactor performance
  • Analyzing experimental data and offering recommendations for future advancements
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to design and scale synthetic hydrocarbon processes according to customer specifications
  • Developing custom control software and instrumentation using Python, LabView, and other technologies
  • Taking ownership of outcomes and directly contributing to the company's growth
  • Leading a team of engineers and scientists

Qualifications

  • Expertise in fluids, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, catalyst synthesis, carbon capture, and materials science
  • Ability to conduct trade studies and technical analyses, providing clear recommendations based on first principles, even with incomplete information
  • Experience in a startup, academic institution, team-building environment, national laboratory, or similar setting
  • Proven excellence in a highly regarded technical context
  • Understanding of the technical challenges related to scaling and deploying commercial hardware solutions in the energy sector
  • Proficiency in data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
  • Experience with laboratory-scale control systems (e.g., LabVIEW or other PLCs)

Compensation

Your salary and incentives will be determined individually based on your job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base Range: $90,000 to $230,000/year plus benefits and stock award plan.
