Job Overview:

The Solar Engineer will deliver expert technical assistance for both proprietary and contracted assets. This position is pivotal in guaranteeing the secure, dependable, and economical functioning of solar and energy storage systems. Key responsibilities encompass documenting insights acquired through practical assessments, aiding in the formulation of maintenance protocols, and collaborating with diverse teams to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Standardization and Compliance Initiatives

  • Guide and coordinate maintenance, support, documentation, and testing efforts, ensuring adherence to OEM guidelines, corporate best practices, and industry regulations.
  • Partner with Operational Technology teams to create, develop, and execute monitoring frameworks for solar and energy storage systems.
  • Facilitate analytical evaluations of solar and energy facilities to improve modeling precision and implement corrective measures for underperforming sites.
  • Establish field-level procedures based on OEM documentation and industry standards, collaborating with the Document Control team to institutionalize these practices.
  • Identify necessary technician training, qualifications, and content creation as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in collaboration with Technical Training.
  • Assess system-level components associated with solar and energy storage, identifying alternative suppliers for various equipment.
  • Work with Procurement to acquire essential repair and replacement materials.
  • Validate processes developed by Health, Safety & Environment, Operational Technology, and other enterprise-wide SMEs.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch System providers and Document Control under the direction of the Senior Manager, Solar, to enhance mobile information and documentation for field technicians.

Field Support Duties

  • Train and guide site personnel in safe operational practices, including thermal imaging and energy storage testing and maintenance, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Integrate enterprise-wide protocols into the solar division, working alongside other SMEs.
  • Maintain updated revisions of solar and energy storage site technical libraries in collaboration with technical services, strategic procurement, and document control teams.
  • Provide technical guidance during unexpected outages to restore operations safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with Solar/Energy Storage Engineering, Asset Management, and Site Managers to assess high-risk equipment, coordinate analyses, corrective actions, and follow-ups.
  • Apply lean management principles to solar and energy storage processes to foster continuous improvement and innovative solutions.
  • Evaluate Standardized Work for value addition and efficiency.
