Job Summary

Alys Beach is seeking an experienced Chef de Partie to join our team at the Beach Club in Alys Beach Community, Florida. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting in communication within the department and restaurant team, understanding ordering and proper food storage/rotation, and monitoring food quality while preparing dishes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in communication within the culinary department and restaurant team.
  • Understand ordering and proper food storage/rotation.
  • Monitor food quality while preparing dishes.
  • Operate kitchen equipment, including vita mix, robo coupe, ranges, grills, fryer, and ovens.
  • Taste dishes for correct seasoning.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, storage, and rotation of foods.
  • Prepare dishes to recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards.
  • Prepare special meals and substitute items.
  • Assist in proper safe food handling procedures.
  • Train and serve as a role model for new associates.
  • Serve food in proper portions in proper plate/bowl.
  • Wash and sanitize work areas, including tables, tools, knives, and kitchen equipment.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests and associates according to company standards.
  • Anticipate the needs of our homeowners and guests.
  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to a manager.
Requirements
  • Minimum two years' experience as a cook I in a comparable club or hotel environment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with guests, owners, and other associates.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and/or walk for an extended period.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to move, carry, lift, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to smoke, steam, loud noises, wet conditions.
  • Ability to work in the heat and/or cold, often with extended exposure to the sun.
Essential Job Functions
  • Ability to constantly stand and walk throughout shift.
  • Ability to reach, bend, squat, transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to tolerate some exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, and humidity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Organizational skills. Ability to be organized in a changing environment.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write the English language.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
  • ServSafe manager certification.
  • Degree in a Hospitality Program a plus.
  • Club experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Beach Cuisine.
  • Outdoor Catering events.
