About the Role

Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas is seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN to join our team. As a vital member of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to our patients, particularly those in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Responsibilities

  • You will perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy as needed.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers when necessary.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, preferably in the NICU setting.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • RRT license issued by the NBRC.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) license issued by the Texas Medical Board.
  • An Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory program.
