Respiratory Care Specialist for NICU

About the Role
Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas is seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN to join our team. As a vital member of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to our patients, particularly those in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Responsibilities
- You will perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
- Administer oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy as needed.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers when necessary.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, preferably in the NICU setting.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Neonate Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- RRT license issued by the NBRC.
- RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) license issued by the Texas Medical Board.
- An Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory program.
