Job Title: Social Service Assistant

Job Summary:

The Social Service Assistant will work in conjunction with the Senior Support staff to provide a safe and stimulating environment for residents at Valor Home - Summit. This part-time position requires a team player who can adapt to various settings and provide support to residents in achieving an improved quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the efficient running of the facility and its therapeutic programming.
  • Answer phones, direct inbound calls, and take messages.
  • Keep the front office organized and maintain a list of office and facility supplies.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and check fire extinguishers.
  • Prepare rooms for incoming residents and maintain medication logs.
  • Process donations, complete check requests, and prepare meals for residents.
  • Track therapeutic attendance and complete contact summaries.
  • Assist residents in communicating with various agencies and accompany them to appointments as needed.
  • Promote anti-discriminatory practices and provide support to residents in achieving their goals.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by management.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with other staff members and adhere to agency policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Ability to model open communication, fair treatment, and display caring and compassion.
  • Excellent communication skills for team members and clients.
  • Knowledge of community services and Microsoft Word skills.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Ability to meet agency requirements for criminal background checks and have reliable transportation and a phone.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience working in crisis intervention.

Salary: $15/hour
