This role is eligible for health benefits starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment and Paid Time Off benefits after 90 days. The compensation for this position ranges from $23.58 to $29.16 per hour, with an additional $2.00 shift differential for weekend shifts. The schedule for this position is Sunday to Thursday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
Role Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Resident Medication Assistant is to support residents in the self-administration of their medications as prescribed by their healthcare provider. This role operates under the guidance of the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, Wellness Nurse, or Executive Director, ensuring adherence to established care standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred. Candidates must complete 8 hours of approved medication administration training and achieve a passing score of 85% or higher on the examination. Additionally, successful completion of 8 hours of shadowing with an approved trainer and 4 hours of continuing education in medication administration annually is required. Proficiency in oral and written communication in English is essential.
Experience:
Preferred candidates will have at least two years of experience in a long-term care or assisted living environment. All staff providing direct care must maintain current first aid training and CPR certification.
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should possess a thorough understanding of medications commonly prescribed for the elderly and the ability to implement relevant policies and procedures in medication administration. Familiarity with RCFE regulations and experience in delivering personal care services in a residential setting are important. The ability to respond appropriately to new or stressful situations, work collaboratively within a healthcare team, and follow both verbal and written instructions is crucial.
The final candidate will be required to successfully complete Eskaton's post-offer, pre-employment assessments, which include a criminal background check, drug screening, COVID testing, TB screening, and health evaluation.
