This role offers eligibility for health benefits after 60 days of employment and Paid Time Off after 90 days. The compensation for this position ranges from $23.58 to $29.16 per hour, with an additional $2.00 shift differential for weekend shifts. The schedule for this position is Sunday to Thursday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
Role Responsibilities:
The primary function of the Resident Medication Assistant is to support residents in the self-administration of their prescribed medications, following the directives of the primary physician and under the guidance of the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, Wellness Nurse, or Executive Director. Medication administration will adhere to established standards and regulations governing residential care.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred. Candidates must complete 8 hours of approved medication administration training and achieve a passing score of 85% or higher on the examination. Additionally, candidates must complete 8 hours of shadowing with an approved trainer and engage in 4 hours of continuing education on medication administration annually. Proficiency in both oral and written communication in English is required.
Experience Requirements:
Two years of experience in a long-term care or assisted living environment is preferred. All staff providing direct care must possess current first aid training and CPR certification.
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of medications commonly prescribed to the elderly and the ability to implement relevant policies and procedures for medication dispensing. Familiarity with RCFE regulations and personal care services in a residential setting is essential. The ability to respond appropriately to new or stressful situations and work collaboratively within a healthcare team is crucial.
The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a series of pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check, drug test, COVID test, TB screening, and health assessment.
