Position Overview

Opportunity Highlights:
In this role, you will engage in mid-level engineering tasks, collaborating with a team of engineers as a project leader. Your responsibilities will include overseeing project management and conducting essential bridge inspections in accordance with national standards. You will take charge of projects from inception to completion, designing various types of structures, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring adherence to timelines while coordinating with different divisions.

Proficiency in software tools such as Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, GIS, and structural analysis applications is essential. The projects you lead will play a vital role in ensuring the functionality of critical transportation infrastructure for the community.

Career Development:
This position involves both office and fieldwork, including on-site bridge inspections that require navigating challenging environments. You will conduct load ratings on county-owned structures to ensure safety and compliance with applicable regulations. Core Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate multiple capital improvement projects, including engineering design, plan preparation, specifications, and contract management.
  • Analyze and prepare engineering reports as mandated by relevant authorities, presenting findings to county staff and officials.
  • Review and suggest modifications to plans prepared by consulting engineers to align with county standards.
  • Evaluate development projects for compliance with local ordinances and regulations.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • A resume and cover letter are required for this position.
  • A four-year degree in Civil Engineering or a related field AND
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience relevant to the role.
  • Alternatively, registration as an EIT or an additional four years of related work experience demonstrating the ability to fulfill essential functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer's license.
  • Bridge Inspection Team Lead certification.
