Job Overview

The role of the Project Manager at Jesse Engineering Co. encompasses the responsibility of delivering fabrication drawings and necessary materials for designated projects to the production facility in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities

  • Work is conducted on-site at Jesse Engineering Co.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings with the Sales & Estimating team to gain insights on the project, key material suppliers, subcontractors, timelines, and budget estimates.
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients
  • Conduct a thorough review of project plans and specifications
  • Oversee the creation of shop drawings and purchase orders for raw materials and subcontracted services
  • Perform monthly progress assessments or budget evaluations
  • Mitigate project risks by ensuring adherence to plans and specifications
  • Report directly to the Senior Project Manager

Project Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain project schedules aligned with agreed delivery timelines, through discussions with production management, subcontractors, and suppliers. Communicate updates to clients as necessary. The complexity of the project will dictate the required level of detail.

Vendor and Subcontractor Management

  • Identify appropriate vendors and subcontractors for raw materials and services based on prior evaluations during the estimating phase
  • Create detailed purchase orders for raw materials and services using an MRP system, including Bills of Materials and CAD data
  • Prepare comprehensive purchase orders for subcontracted services, ensuring all relevant plans and specifications are included
  • Monitor vendor and subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and schedule requirements

Client Relationship Management

  • Engage with clients regularly to identify potential challenges and devise solutions that enhance production efficiency and reduce costs
  • Foster and maintain constructive relationships with project stakeholders, including team members, owners, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Utilize engineering expertise to safeguard Jesse Engineering Co.'s interests during client interactions

Documentation and Compliance

  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of all project aspects to protect Jesse Engineering Co.'s interests, including client-requested changes, discrepancies in plans, and supplier performance issues
  • Prepare and route project submittals as required, including shop drawings and material certifications

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in Project Management, ideally within the fabrication, structural steel, or construction sectors, or a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. General knowledge of:

  • Fabrication and erection standards and practices
  • AISC standards and AWS codes
  • Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and MRP systems
  • Blueprint interpretation
  • Contractual agreements and legal considerations

Demonstrated skills in:

  • Negotiation
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Managing multiple commercial and industrial projects concurrently
  • Applying construction principles and interpreting contract documents

As a salaried exempt employee, occasional use of a personal vehicle may be necessary for local travel, with mileage reimbursement provided, along with mobile phone expenses.
