Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Pharmacist to join our team at Cardinal Health. As a key member of our inpatient pharmacy team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Verification: Verify physician orders for medications using our pharmacy information system, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
  • Supervision and Guidance: Supervise and guide Pharmacy Technicians to ensure the compliant and efficient operations of the pharmacy, adhering to State Boards of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Medication Adjustments: Adjust dosages based on established protocols for each drug, taking into account patient condition and other medications being used.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on the proper use and expected effects of medications, particularly when patients are using multiple medications or being discharged.
  • Narcotics and Inventory Control: Manage narcotics and inventory control, including regular documentation and completion of checklists, and audit outdated medication as needed.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with Nurses and Physicians to verify orders and obtain additional information, and assist the Pharmacy Director in maintaining pharmacy accreditation and implementing operational changes.
Requirements
  • Licensure: Licensed pharmacist in the state of Montana or ability to become quickly licensed.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Experience: 2 years of in-patient hospital pharmacy experience, with IV experience preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Skills: Strong customer service skills, ability to hear, write, and speak clearly, and manual dexterity for occasional reach, lifting, and holding of small objects.
  • Computer Skills: Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.
