Cardinal Health is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Staff Pharmacist to manage pharmacy operations within a hospital environment. This role requires a commitment of 32-40 hours per week, exclusively on weekdays, aligning with facility hours from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM.

Role Overview:

The Pharmacy Operations team at Cardinal Health is essential in ensuring the safe and effective management of pharmacy services across various healthcare settings, including acute care hospitals and outpatient facilities. Our pharmacists are integral in providing tailored pharmacy solutions that enhance patient care and optimize healthcare costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of pharmaceuticals to validate physician orders through the pharmacy information system, ensuring accuracy in drug selection and dosage.
  • Oversee Pharmacy Technicians to maintain compliance and operational efficiency, offering guidance on complex prescriptions and pharmacy protocols.
  • Adjust medication dosages based on established guidelines, considering patient-specific factors and concurrent medications.
  • Provide comprehensive patient education regarding medication usage, particularly for those on multiple prescriptions or transitioning care.
  • Manage narcotics and inventory compliance, conducting regular audits and documentation to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to clarify orders and gather additional information as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining pharmacy accreditation and implementing new operational procedures as directed by the Pharmacy Director.

Qualifications:

  • Current pharmacist license in good standing in Montana or eligibility for rapid licensure.
  • Graduation from an accredited pharmacy program; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred experience of 2 years in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting.
  • IV certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Manual dexterity for handling pharmacy equipment and medications.
  • Proficient in using various pharmacy information systems.

Expectations:

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacy concepts and technical skills to execute diverse tasks.
  • Engage in projects of moderate complexity, identifying solutions to technical challenges.
  • Exercise sound judgment within established guidelines.
  • Receive general guidance with the potential for detailed instructions on new initiatives.
  • Work output will be evaluated for accuracy and reasoning.

Compensation: Anticipated hourly rate ranges from $48.70 to $69.60.
