Overview

The selected candidate will deliver medical services as directed by the supervising authority, contributing to the university's objectives in education, research, patient care, outreach, and community service. The physician is anticipated to engage actively in the educational, research, clinical, and administrative initiatives of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, focusing on Physical Medicine and Pain Management.

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties: This role will be a collaborative position shared between the Department of Orthopaedics and the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, primarily located within the Department of Orthopaedics.

The incumbent will assist in establishing non-surgical clinics for Orthopaedics, aimed at diagnosing and treating conditions related to nerve, muscle, or bone injuries. Care provided in the Comprehensive Pain Center must adhere to established protocols and be coordinated with Anesthesiology providers.

The individual will collaborate with the Department Clinical Medical Director to establish a clinical schedule that addresses the needs of the Department and its patient demographic. Additionally, the role will require participation in on-call duties, as assigned, alongside other faculty members during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Educational Role: The appointee will instruct trainees and support staff in their specialized area of expertise. Teaching responsibilities will include delivering assigned lectures throughout the year and demonstrating best practices through their own work, mentoring trainees, and guiding learning by delegating focused responsibilities. Assistant Professors are expected to demonstrate teaching proficiency and possess knowledge of relevant guidelines from applicable regulatory bodies.

Research Contributions: The candidate may maintain a scholarly research program aimed at enhancing the understanding of disease causes, detection, and treatment. They may also develop and oversee research initiatives focused on improving the educational framework within anesthesiology and perioperative medicine. Opportunities for public service through consultative roles with various groups may also be available, subject to approval by the Chair.

Administrative Duties: Additional administrative responsibilities may be assigned based on departmental needs and the candidate's areas of expertise and interest. There will be opportunities to engage in departmental management and serve on institutional committees.
