Medical Assistant/Patient Service Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative to join our team at Meharry Medical College. As a Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide patient care in accordance with regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards, as well as provider orders.
- Assist physicians or other providers in preparing patients for examination, treatment, and implementing patient care treatment programs.
- Perform front office and other clerical duties, including answering phones, taking and relaying messages, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and reconciling no-show appointments.
- Document all patient interventions and responses thoroughly in patient records, track laboratory and diagnostic test results, and communicate results and orders to patients as directed by the provider.
- Review written and verbal instructions, educational materials, and procedure consent forms with patients and/or family members, and schedule tests, surgeries, and obtain proper authorization and/or precertification.
- Disinfect patient rooms after each patient and sterilize equipment and instruments according to office schedule, procedures, and/or manufacturer's recommendations.
- High school diploma required.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a medical, dental, or behavioral health receptionist, insurance processor, or a similar position in a medical, dental, or behavioral health office, hospital, or other health-related facility.
- Experience with computerized registration and assessment programs; bilingual preferred.
