About the Role:

The Enterprise Business Systems and Operations Division (EBSOD) at MITRE is dedicated to providing systems and processes that empower our leaders and employees to make informed business decisions and identify opportunities. We are seeking a Systems Engineer to deliver expertise in Systems, Testing, and Operational Engineering within our division. This role involves collaboration with a diverse team to enhance our skill sets and contribute to the evolution of our corporate infrastructure, including systems such as AWS Cloud, Clarity, Costpoint, Salesforce, Workday, Denodo, Tableau, and Cognos.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer subject matter expertise in Testing and Evaluation (T&E) and operations as teams adapt and implement best practices in testing.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and apply testing techniques, tools, and strategies to support complex software and hardware applications.
  • Address challenges across the MITRE corporate landscape, including Finance, HR, and various sectors.
  • Ensure effective test data preparation and management processes.
  • Assist EBSOD leaders in defining and executing their T&E strategies, utilizing Agile methodologies.
  • Respond to performance alerts, investigate issues, and take appropriate action.
  • Document incidents and performance issues in a ticketing system.
  • Analyze log data to identify performance problems across cloud environments, endpoints, and servers.
  • Utilize tools such as Splunk, Tableau, ZenDesk, and network analyzers for investigations.
  • Develop new analytics and implement mitigations to ensure successful testing and operations.
  • Formulate integrated test and operational requirements and review test requirement analysis packages.
  • Gather and convey requirements from stakeholders, leading to comprehensive documentation and training materials.
  • Create test plans, procedures, and reports based on program input and participate in real-time test reviews.
  • Contribute to technical studies that inform test planning decisions.
  • Conduct engineering assessments of system development, testing, and integration.
  • Monitor the IT infrastructure, including endpoints, clouds, servers, and networks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a government clearance.
  • Experience in evaluating and implementing testing techniques and strategies.
  • Proven ability to deliver innovative solutions to corporate challenges and advocate for new approaches.
  • Documented success in applying T&E principles to systems and enterprise systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across various technical disciplines.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and approaches through structured educational content and team expertise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with software development methods, including Agile, HTML/PHP, and Visual Basic.
  • This position requires on-site presence four days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience in testing software applications and cloud-based architectures.
  • Experience with systems integration and Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure and functional systems such as Clarity, Costpoint, Salesforce, and Workday.
