Position Summary: We are in search of a proficient General Surgeon specializing in Surgical Oncology, particularly in hepatobiliary surgery and other surgical carcinomas. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in both general and oncologic surgical practices, managing cancers that affect the liver, bile ducts, pancreas, as well as prevalent carcinomas like colorectal, gastric, and esophageal cancers. This position necessitates a dedication to holistic cancer care, teamwork with multidisciplinary groups, and contributions to advancements in surgical oncology.

Core Responsibilities:

Surgical Expertise:

  • Conduct a variety of general surgical operations, including appendectomies, hernia repairs, cholecystectomies, and other elective or urgent procedures.
  • Specialize in oncological surgeries for hepatobiliary cancers, encompassing liver resections, bile duct surgeries, and pancreatic interventions.
  • Oversee other prevalent surgical carcinomas, such as colorectal resections, gastric surgeries, and esophageal cancer operations.
  • Formulate and execute tailored surgical strategies for patients, merging general and specialized oncologic methodologies.

Patient Care Management:

  • Perform comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including patient histories, physical examinations, imaging studies, and diagnostic evaluations for a variety of carcinomas.
  • Deliver expert post-operative care, addressing complications, ensuring optimal recovery, and providing patient education regarding cancer treatments and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, gastroenterologists, and other specialists to coordinate thorough care for patients with diverse cancers.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Engage with a multidisciplinary team, including medical and radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologists, and nursing staff, to guarantee integrated and effective patient care.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment alternatives, surgical procedures, and anticipated outcomes.

Research and Academic Involvement:

  • Participate in research and clinical trials focusing on various carcinomas, including hepatobiliary and general surgical malignancies, to enhance surgical techniques and improve patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the education and mentorship of surgical residents and medical students, and engage in educational programs, seminars, and publications.
