Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Instrument Coordinator to join our team at Brigham & Women's Hospital (BWH). As a key member of our Central Processing Department, you will be responsible for providing inventory management, program management, and technical support to our Perioperative Services and Endoscopy teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain accurate tracking system data for all products and instruments, with a focus on data support functions.
  • Review and ensure compliance with IFU's for all instrumentation, adhering to enterprise and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations leadership to develop instrument/scope tray count sheets and maintain downtime count sheet systems.
  • Design and build custom SPM workflows to support adherence to instrument IFUs.
  • Supply leadership with data to monitor processes and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with Staff Development Team to assist with orientation and training of sterile processing employees and operating room staff.
  • Manage vendor instrument functions, including reception, inspection, and system entry, instrument contents verification and documentation, return to vendor and removal from inventory.
  • Manage the department's reusable instrument inventory, including purchasing, shipping and receiving functions, and tracking using an inventory tracking system.
  • Maintain instrument par levels for commonly purchased items and implement individual instrument marking/tracking processes.
  • Coordinate instrument repair needs, including vendor coordination, requisition issuance, and device packaging for shipment.
  • Manage daily supplies needed for the CPD Operation and perform various information systems and data responsibilities for CPD.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • CRCST or CBSPD certification preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Fluent English language skills, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Basic understanding of standard procedures, operational workflows, and regulatory compliance for sterile processing.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and similar programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple tasks, and prioritize competing demands.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience processing reusable instrumentation in a hospital setting.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience in an OR/Sterile Processing Environment.
  • Experience using Epic, SPM, and PeopleSoft eBuy.
Working Conditions

Exposure to the Operating Room environment is required. A strict dress code and professional appearance, including surgical scrubs, is expected. Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, bend, pull, and place and retrieve material. May be required to work weekends or holidays for special projects and/or system issues.
