Job Overview

Position Summary: The primary role of the Childcare Room Attendant is to foster a secure, interactive, and nurturing atmosphere for children and adolescents within our facility. This individual will be responsible for the safety and supervision of children from infancy to adolescence, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are adequately addressed. This position calls for a compassionate and patient individual who can cultivate a positive and enriching environment for the children in their care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to diaper changing protocols as per the established guidelines.
  • Serve parent-provided meals and snacks, including assisting younger children with feeding.
  • Engage with children through activities such as reading, games, and arts and crafts.
  • Promote positive behavior through encouragement and effective communication.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of attendance, incidents, and significant observations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the room and equipment.
  • Welcome parents and children warmly, using their names whenever possible.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned.

Performance Standards:

  • Guarantee the safety and well-being of all children in your care.
  • Create an inclusive setting where every child feels appreciated and supported.
  • Punctually attend scheduled shifts and activities.
  • Maintain transparent communication with parents, guardians, and fellow staff members.
  • Provide constructive guidance to redirect children’s behavior, employing minimal discipline when necessary.
  • Ensure the room and equipment are clean at the end of each shift, with toys regularly disinfected.
  • Comply with all policies and regulations governing the Childcare Room and keep all members informed of these rules.
  • Be available to substitute for other caregivers when needed.
  • Arrange for coverage of your own absences in advance or as soon as possible in case of illness.
  • Collaborate as a team member to uphold high standards of caregiving.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to members, guests, and staff by embodying the organization's core values.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in childcare.
  • CPR and first aid certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in children's welfare.
  • Capability to lift and carry children weighing up to 50 pounds.
