Position Overview

The role of the Physical Therapy Assistant involves delivering high-quality care to patients under the supervision of licensed physical therapists. This position is crucial in helping patients regain mobility and improve their overall physical function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Provide skilled treatment focusing on enhancing functional mobility, motor skills, and muscular strength while addressing sensory and environmental needs.
  • Plan of Care: Adhere to a structured plan of care that includes measurable goals, taking into account the psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate documentation in compliance with professional guidelines, ensuring timely billing for services rendered.
  • Education: Conduct educational sessions for patients, families, and caregivers to promote independence post-discharge.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive treatment and coordinate care effectively.
  • Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing education and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.
Qualifications
  • Education: Must be a graduate of a nationally-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience is preferred; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Licensure: Eligibility for current licensure with the New Mexico State Physical Therapy Board is required, along with BLS certification prior to employment.
Work Schedule

Flexibility to work occasional weekends may be required.
