Job Overview

The Laboratory Services Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory services. This position involves acting as a backup for gas management personnel, assisting with gas exchanges, installations, and performing all necessary duties in the absence of the gas manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the delivery of laboratory services, including gases, liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and deep cleaning, by liaising with lab support staff.
  • Assist the lab gas management team in relocating heavy dewars and cylinders to designated areas.
  • Conduct thorough decontamination of equipment using hazardous materials to eliminate pathogens and contaminants, adhering to established safety protocols.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during decontamination tasks to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Manage the disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Regularly inspect laboratory equipment and tools, initiating repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Respond to equipment alarms and alerts, coordinating with relevant parties to resolve issues promptly.
  • Serve as the primary contact for laboratory staff, facilitating their needs and coordinating activities.
  • Oversee inventory management of lab supplies, including glassware, lab coats, PPE, and consumables.
  • Support the removal of waste from laboratories, ensuring compliance with waste management protocols.
  • Act as a liaison for third-party vendors during maintenance and repair visits.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with safety representatives to uphold high safety standards within the laboratory.
  • Provide updates and timely communication regarding service requests to lab users.
  • Conduct orientation for new staff and visitors to familiarize them with laboratory operations.
  • Participate in committees to support laboratory services across various sites, providing guidance and expertise.
  • Maintain training and compliance in health, safety, and operational aspects of laboratory activities.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for infrastructure and service provider issues, ensuring timely resolution.
