Early Childhood Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team at the Kennewick School District. As a key member of our ECEAP program, you will play a vital role in providing developmentally appropriate experiences for three and four-year-old children in a preschool setting and visiting families as per program design.
Responsibilities:- Develop, coordinate, and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children and families in the classroom and in the home.
- Establish goals with parents that produce outcomes based on children's individual strengths, needs, and interests.
- Make home visits with eligible families when needed, providing parenting information and assisting families in setting SMART goals.
- Select and maintain materials according to ECEAP Standards and policies and KSD policies.
- Assist with parent and community volunteers in the classroom.
- Reinforce parents as the primary teacher of their children.
- Plan and select appropriate tasks to meet individual children's and families' needs.
- Maintain documentation of program records such as lesson plans, home visits, child and family assessment and referrals.
- Act as a liaison between families and community and health support services.
- Participate in all staff development opportunities.
- Assist with childcare during evening parent meetings and workshops.
- Submit all concerns to ECEAP supervisor and assist in referrals as needed.
- Communicate regularly with ECEAP staff to insure provision of comprehensive services to qualifying families/children.
- Report child neglect/abuse to proper authorities in accordance with the Kennewick School District policy and ECEAP procedures.
- Respect and maintain the policy of confidentiality according to program, FERPA, and KSD policy.
- Participate in the required assessments, evaluations, and data collection.
- Practice principles of health and safety for young children and families as per ECEAP standards and KSD policies; serve family style meals and assist in clean up.
- Perform all duties of the position within the scope of ECEAP and Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Successful experience pertinent to direct involvement with low income families, a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
- An associate or higher degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education.
- A valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-Grade 3) or Early Childhood Special Education.
- If the best candidate for the position does not meet the above qualifications, the candidate must have a minimum of an AA degree OR 72 quarter hours 48 semester hours of college level classes as proven by an official transcript have passed the Paraeducators ETS test as proven by an ETS transcript. The candidate must then commit to a Professional Development Plan (PDP) to fully meet the qualifications of the position within 5 years of date of hire.
- Must attach unofficial transcript proving AA degree or equivalent to application. Official transcripts of all levels of education, including high school, required within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Spanish bilingual skills required - Must pass STAMP assessment.
- Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
- Must pass a basic skills test.
- Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter.
- Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.
- Understanding of ECEAP and DCYF standards.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
- Current successful experience working with bilingual and low income ECEAP children and families.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 18-26 pounds; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
