Job Summary:

This role is responsible for providing a visible presence at store entrances and exits, mitigating theft and fraud, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for associates and customers. The specialist will make eye contact, smile, and greet all customers in a prominent, courteous, and friendly manner, deterring opportunities for theft by demonstrating a "command" presence in a company-issued vest and required black attire. The specialist will also monitor the Code 50 package inspection policy, walk the sales floor to identify and address potential theft indicators, and partner with store leadership to ensure compliance with loss prevention directives and minimize operational shortage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintaining a safe and secure environment by understanding that safety is the number one priority and practicing safe behaviors in everything done.
• Providing a visible "command" presence, including prominent greetings with eye contact, at store entrances and exits and on the sales floor in a company-issued vest and required black attire, monitoring for potential safety issues.
• Removing clutter and ensuring safe, clear egress to emergency exits.

Developing Great Teams and Partnerships:

• Providing great customer service by prominently greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling, and answering questions in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Treating all customers and associates with respect.
• Demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times, recognizing associates using company recognition programs, and regularly involving internal and external partners.

Mitigating Theft and Fraud:

• Monitoring entrances and exits as well as the sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior.
• Gathering theft indicators and using internal or external intelligence to impact shortage trends, effectively communicating to store leadership and loss prevention leadership, and adhering to company policy for external theft response.

Minimizing Operational Shortage:

• Increasing store awareness on effective processes to minimize operational shortage, training and educating associates on shortage reduction initiatives, observing and validating proper checkout procedures for customers and associates.

Qualifications and Special Skills:

• High school education or equivalent required, AA degree preferred.
• One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
• One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
• Active security guard license preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team, excellent customer service skills, and proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.

Physical Requirements/ADA:

• Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
• Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
• Must be able to raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs., from one level to another (includes upward pulling).
• Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch (frequency and duration will vary per daily business need).
