About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Classroom Educator to join our team at the Kennewick School District. As a member of our district, you will have the opportunity to work with students who require support and guidance to thrive in the classroom.

Job Summary: The Autism Classroom Educator will provide direct support to students with Autism, working under the direction of the classroom teacher. This role involves implementing data collection, classroom rules, and specific student directives as directed by the teacher. The successful candidate will also be responsible for taking thorough data, completing required paperwork, and providing support for physical and health needs of students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct support to students with Autism under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  2. Implement data collection, classroom rules, and specific student directives as directed by the teacher.
  3. Take thorough data and complete required paperwork to maintain compliance with state and school district regulations.
  4. Provide support for physical and health needs of students, including supervision during recess times.
  5. Assist specialists in supervision of assigned students during activities such as physical education, music, and library.
  6. Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of 72 quarter college credits or 48 semester college credits, or a passing score on the ETS test.
  3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  6. First aid certification or willingness to acquire it.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  2. Experience working with students with Autism or other special needs.
  3. Training in behavior intervention strategies and data collection.
  4. Ability to run quickly and safely supervise students with elopement issues.

Salary and Benefits: The estimated salary for this role is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. The Kennewick School District offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 403(b) retirement plan.
