About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our Radiological Controls Engineering group at Newport News Shipbuilding. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing nuclear equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors
  • Conduct studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants
  • Study nuclear fuel cycle to define most economical uses of material and safest means of waste products disposal
  • Recommend various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
