Job Summary

Serves as a key liaison between Nursing Administration and hospital departments to ensure seamless operations and effective problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Makes rounds on all units to support nursing staff and address concerns.
  • Obtains report from Charge Nurses on staffing, hospital falls, patient complaints, and other issues.
  • Coaches and mentors Charge Nurses to proactively solve problems and improve patient care.
  • Works with Resource Staffing Department to stabilize core staffing levels and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Responds to and manages patient/family and physician complaints, resolving issues and documenting incidents.
  • Collaborates with Administrator on call to resolve customer complaints, facility issues, and disaster management.
  • Coordinates bed management and diversion issues with Administrator on call, Nursing Leadership, and Patient Placement Coordinators.
  • Reviews deaths for Medical Examiner/Coroner and ensures completeness of death certificates.
  • Works with Employee Health and Infection Control to enforce policies and procedures regarding patients and staff.
  • Serves as Planning Chief and temporary Incident Commander in the event of a disaster.
  • Initiates disaster beeper alert system and collaborates with Security on miscellaneous issues.
  • Works with Plant Operations and Engineering on facility issues and assists Public Relations with media inquiries.
  • Acts as a resource and support to Nursing Management on policies and procedures, and collaborates with Administration and Risk Management on sensitive legal and clinical situations.
  • Manages critical personnel issues in the absence of management, ensuring employees are treated according to personnel policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 3 years of Nursing experience required; 5 years preferred
  • Current South Carolina R.N. License
