We are looking for an Energy Storage Development Associate who will play an important role in bringing about the proliferation of energy storage through their support of energy storage project design, financial analysis, proposal generation, customer and site qualification, and management of partners and processes through the development and contracting of energy storage projects. This role presents an opportunity to learn about the emerging energy storage and distributed renewable energy industry from the 'inside', while working on significant and impactful projects with customers from day one.

The successful candidate is passionate about helping to build a sustainable, distributed energy grid, and has U.S. energy markets knowledge and experience, some familiarity with energy storage and/or distributed/renewable generation, and the value streams that determine project success. They excel in the "white-space" and are enthusiastic about helping to build upon the early successes of a burgeoning business situated within an established and respected energy solutions company. This is a Remote position with options to work from CPower's Eastern U.S. offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sales Support for Energy Storage (ES) projects.
  • Analyze customer utility bills and interval data.
  • Run models to size energy storage projects and analyze financial viability (both standalone and paired with other distributed assets like solar).
  • Create proformas and customer proposals.
  • Manage commercial modeling "tools" for site qualification and evaluation.
  • Contracting Support for ES Projects.
  • Support creation of customer contracts by supporting the generation of partner/supplier contracts and term sheets for ES projects.
  • ES Project implementation support.
  • Compile and organize project descriptions and documentation.
  • Compile, generate, and submit documentation for financial incentive applications.
  • Coordinate project design documentation with deployment partners and suppliers.
  • Track and report on project status to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements
  • BA/BS required (finance or engineering degree preferred).
  • 3-5 years in electric/power markets or a related field.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communicator.
  • All applicants must be able to provide documentation that they are legally eligible to work in the United States for an extended period, and will not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for employment visa status to work legally for our Company in the United States.

Preferred, but not required:
  • Experience with DER modeling tools like Energy Toolbase, HomerGrid, HomerPro, Geli, or similar.
  • Experience and understanding of U.S. wholesale and retail energy and capacity markets.
  • Experience with utility and retail electric bill structures and components, their origin, and their impacts on overall retail electric costs.
  • Familiarity with grid services value streams (capacity markets, ancillary services, utility programs, etc.)
  • Comprehension of energy storage and/or distributed/renewable energy assets and their operation.
  • Familiarity with battery energy storage project financial models.
