Core Responsibilities:
This position offers extensive support to the Business Services Division. Responsibilities encompass loan processing and management from initiation through post-closing; operational and technical assistance in partnership with the Business Services team; establishment of membership accounts and checking accounts; as well as the oversight and administration of member business banking relationships. Duties include preparing and processing loan approval and closing documentation, rectifying post-closing loan documentation issues, and engaging with business members regarding overdue accounts to resolve any account-related challenges. Deliver outstanding member service and support to ensure the needs of our members are effectively addressed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Business Services Relationship Managers to facilitate and resolve challenges associated with new loan transactions, closings, modifications, and renewals.
- Accountable for documenting the financial information requirements for new loan applications.
- Organize, process, and oversee documents and files for the completion of commercial loan packages in accordance with lending specifications. Scrutinize and monitor loan documents for precision, completeness, and compliance with approval conditions.
- Ensure proper lien positioning, which may involve UCC searches and evaluating title policies/searches.
- Maintain files with adequate documentation for third-party reviews and prepare files for timely audits.
- Establish loan and financial ticklers to guarantee accuracy and punctuality. Ensure all closing conditions are satisfied and loans are finalized within designated timeframes.
- Assist the Business Services Relationship Managers in acquiring, scanning, and archiving necessary information for loan underwriting.
- May support the Business Services Relationship Manager in procuring third-party reports related to loan requests, including appraisals and environmental assessments.
- Review and address various member issues concerning products and services.
- Process loan advances on credit facilities as requested by members or Business Services Relationship Managers.
- Facilitate funding of loan closings at the request of borrowers, closing attorneys/agents, or Business Services Relationship Managers.
- Handle construction loan advances during the drawdown period, which may include coordinating third-party site inspections, title updates, and reviewing funding based on project completion percentages.
- May negotiate loan-signing dates with members, closing agents, and Business Services Relationship Managers.
- May collaborate with attorneys and other financial or legal professionals to secure accurate documents that protect the credit union's interests in compliance with the approved terms of the credit relationship.
- Responsible for GL Certification, which includes research, balancing, and certification.
- May conduct preliminary reviews of property and liability insurance to ensure compliance with MBL loan policies and procedures.
- May provide customer service, administrative support, and communication assistance for the department.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
- Independently prepare data input sheets and supply necessary information for loans to be entered into the credit union servicing system, ensuring all loan coding is accurate.
- Review corporate organizational documents to ascertain appropriate signing authorities and confirm that such entities are in good standing with relevant governmental agencies.
- May conduct preliminary analyses on title insurance commitment reports, including title exceptions, and is responsible for preparing title/escrow instructions, ensuring compliance with the final title policy and confirming the accuracy of the bank's lien position.
- Responsible for reviewing property and liability insurance to ensure compliance with loan terms and MBL policies and procedures.
- Assist Business Banking Relationship Managers in managing the overall account relationship, including deposit accounts.
- Address member inquiries and resolve issues promptly, involving Business Banking Relationship Managers when necessary.
- Process line of credit advances and account transfers following established procedures.
- Handle loan payments and collect associated fees.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of financial products.
- Coordinate with internal partners for referral opportunities.
- Present product proposals to members for selected services.
- Develop long-term solutions for member issues to promote business member and account retention.
- Resolve complex documentation exception issues.
- Follow up and rectify all documentation exceptions with customers, attorneys, insurance agents, and relevant authorities.
- Ensure member files are accurately maintained and promptly updated upon receipt of current information.
- Assist the Business Services team in monitoring and following up on past due accounts.
- Receive and direct telephone calls for Member Business Services.
- Assist other support staff and MBS RMs as directed.
- Type letters, memos, and other documents as needed.
- Participate in special projects as requested.
- Accurately perform all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and OFAC functions related to account openings, maintenance changes, loan approvals, and disbursements, including OFAC verification, reporting suspicious activities, and completing all required training.
Job Prerequisites:
- Previous experience in commercial loan administration and/or retail banking or equivalent office experience is preferred.
- Knowledge in all areas of commercial and real estate lending, including construction to permanent loans, letters of credit, borrower-based lending, and multiple collateral properties is preferred.
- Experience in a commercial loan processing environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with financial products and services.
- Experience in managing customer relationships within a financial institution is preferred.
- Prior experience in selling and servicing business member relationships is preferred, demonstrating adherence to industry regulations and the credit union's lending policies.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Familiarity with financial statements and tax returns is preferred.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Capable of identifying cross-sell opportunities.
- Able to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency with sales management software applications is preferred.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency.
- A college degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with successful outcomes in areas of responsibility may substitute for educational requirements.
- This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods.
- This position may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds and/or frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds.
